Our Impact
The Kern Coalition was formed to help secure state investments by responding to grant opportunities provided by California Jobs First (formerly the Community Economic Resilience Fund).
The $14 million in state funding secured through California Jobs First is committed and currently supports the Catalyst Phase of the program. This funding has established the Kern Regional Jobs First Catalyst Fund, which connects the planning and implementation of economic development projects. This enables Kern County to develop ready-to-go projects that can compete for funding opportunities from federal, state, and private sources.
The California Jobs First program is made up of three phases:
1. Planning Phase
Each of the 13 key regions develops tailored, equitable plans to drive economic growth, informed by robust research and community input.
2. Current Phase
A pipeline of projects, identified in the planning phase, is funded to continue driving growth and achieving the goals set out by California Jobs First. This phase is supported by the committed $14 million.
3. Implementation Phase
Funded projects are advanced and completed in each of the 13 regions, providing valuable economic impacts and fueling job creation statewide.
