To eliminate generational poverty and promote equitable, economic mobility for all in Kern County by ensuring investments dismantle systemic barriers.
The Kern Coalition was formed to help secure state investments by responding to grant opportunities provided by California Jobs First (formerly the Community Economic Resilience Fund). The $14 million in state funding secured through California Jobs First is committed and currently supports the Catalyst Phase of the program. This funding has established the Kern Regional Jobs First Catalyst Fund, which connects the planning and implementation of economic development projects. This enables Kern County to develop ready-to-go projects that can compete for funding opportunities from federal, state, and private sources.
The California Jobs First program is made up of three phases:
We are working to bring investments to traditionally overlooked communities to help dismantle long-standing barriers to success and ensure a seat at the table for all.
We are committed to building trust through transparency, accountability, and collaboration with our stakeholders.
We empower communities through power-building, sharing leadership, and advocacy to drive meaningful, capacity-building change.
